Wilder has taken more of an interest in baking lately, so I’ve been looking up fun recipes to do with him. He LOVES pizza (like most kids do!) so I thought that would be a fun place to start. It’s really the simplest pizza recipe you could ever do and the kids can really do most of the work. Here are the ingredients I used:
1 package of Pillsbury pizza dough
Tomato sauce (I used Simple Truth brand)
Pizza cheese blend (or any cheese you like on your pizza)
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. I pulled out a baking pan that was 9 1/2 x 13 in size so the dough would fit in perfectly. I let Wilder help me mash the sides down into the pan a little.
Then I opened the tomato sauce and poured some onto the dough. He used one of his favorite ninja spoons to spread the sauce all over the dough. Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect!
Then the sprinkling of the cheese! When you think you have enough, sprinkle more on. It bakes down quite a bit and I wish I would have used a bit more cheese, but Wilder didn’t seem to mind!
Finally, the turkey pepperoni. We played a fun counting game while he stacked them on.
Dexter, our dog, made a cameo in this blog post. LOL!
We baked the pizza for about 10 minutes and I turned on the oven light so Wilder could watch the process. Once done I let cool for about 10 minutes and then cut into square slices. Here’s just a pic of the pizza fresh out the oven.
And there you go, folks! A simple and easy baking activity that you can do with your kids. And it tastes yummy! Enjoy!!
